The West of Scotland Junior Girls Inter-County competition
for the Kennedy Salver took place at Williamwood Golf Club today in glorious
overhead and underfoot conditions. The results were as follows: -
Semi-final – Renfrewshire 4 Lanarkshire 1
Ayrshire 3 Dunbartonshire & Argyll 2
Final – Renfrewshire 3 Ayrshire 2
3rd/4th playoff – Lanarkshire 3 Dunbartonshire & Argyll 2
The final was a tense affair. Renfrewshire’s Linzi Graham (Ralston) and
Gillian Mullen (Paisley) came back from dormie down to half their matches with
Roslyn Fleming (Ballochmyle) and Fiona Williamson (Barassie). There were wins
for Megan Briggs (Ranfurly Castle) and Dawn Bell (Whitecraigs) while Sarah
Hutton (Troon Bentinck) was Ayrshires only winner against Williamwood player
Victoria McCulloch.

Sunday 22nd June 2003: Munross Trophy

OPERATION PUTS CLARE-MARIE OUT OF SCOTS GIRLS' TRIP TO WALES
16-year-old Fereneze member Clare-Marie Carlton, Renfrewshire Ladies County
Champion has had to withdraw from a Scottish Ladies Golfing Association squad
of 12 girls who are bound for South Wales on a 48hr familiarisation trip next
week. Claire- Marie is having surgery on ankle injury.
The squad will be accompanied by team captain Lindsey Anderson (Gullane) and
SLGA national coach, Karyn Dallas, the Kirriemuir GC professional.
Kate O'Sullivan (Cochrane Castle), is one of the squad members

ADDI SHAMASH ( RLCGA PLAYER) PLAYS THE BEST GOLF OF
HER CAREER
Addi Shamash, 22-year-old from Kirkcudbright and Bonnyton scored
the best open win of her golfing life so far when she lifted the
Irish women's open intermediate championship over 54 holes at Charlesland
Golf Club, 18 miles south-east of Dublin, yesterday

INTER COUNTY JAMBOREE AT BRUNSTON CASTLE - (DAY 2)
Renfrewshire drew against Lanarkshire in a very close and
exciting match. Gillian McGinlay was 2 down with 3 to play in the singles and
managed to win the last 3 holes to win the match against Lesley Lloyd to
secure the halved match against Lanarkshire.
Jennifer Jenkins was 4 under par to win against Clare Queen,
and Donna Jackson having lost the 9th to a birdie went on a birdie blitz
herself and won 4/3 against May Hughes

Dunbartonshire & Argyll and Renfrewshire drew 4 1/2-4 1/2, sharing the
foursomes and the singles.
Dunbartonshire & Argyll's top player, Anne Laing, a Vagliano Trophy team
choice beat Donna Jackson by 5 and 4 in the lead-off singles
In the end, everything hung on the final singles in which D&A's Sara Bishop
beat Carol Whyte by 2 and 1.

Sunday 15th June:
LGU MEDALS SCOTTISH GRAND FINAL
Crieff GC (CSS 73)
Deborah Barton (Elderslie) and Gillian Gowers (Annanhill Ladies) won the
leading prizes at the LGU Medals Scottish Grand Final at Crieff Golf Club
today . Deborah's net 70 off a handicap of 16 won her the Silver Division top
award by one shot from Addi Shamash (Kirkcudbright and
Bonnyton) and RLCGA member who plays off two.
County Champion Clare- Marie Carlton has had to withdraw
with a foot injury from the Inter County Jamboree which starts tomorrow at
Brunston Castle

87th BIRTHDAY JANET
Janet Gillies a past RLCGA member and still an active
playing member of Ranfurly Castle and Troon Ladies is 87 today. She is
pictured here with the William Allison McLachlan Cup which she and her partner
Moyra Gordon (Ranfurly Castle) won when she was 86 !!.
Janet has had an operation and been in hospital for over a week and is now
hoping to be discharged soon to recuperate at her daughter's home in Kilmacolm
(Patricia Brown).
Her "adopted daughter" Carol Fell and all friends wish her a speedy
recovery and look forward to seeing her out on the course in the not too
distant future.
It is with great pleasure that Mearns Castle 9 Hole Golf Course will open
for play on Wed 11th June 2003. Being a registered user of Mearns Castle Golf
Academy allows you to pre book tee times and they urge you to do this
immediately to avoid disappointment. Remember, the course is only open to
Registered Users.
Initially they will be opening up the course with limited tee times to help
prevent undue wear and tear to the new grass with a view to being fully
operational in August 2003. Prices will range from £9 weekdays to £10 on the
weekend with a reduced rate of £7 weekdays and £8 weekends for Seniors (over
65) and Juniors (under 12).
The course, which has all USGA spec greens and tees, has four par 4’s four
par 3’s and one par 5 and has been designed to challenge both the novice and
the low handicapper alike. They are sure that you will thoroughly enjoy your
game at Mearns Castle Golf Course and that you will become a regular user.

Thursday 5th June 2003:
The June County Medal was played over Ralston today with the SSS71 ending
up being a CSS 74 (Reduction only). Marion Munro (Ranfurly Castle)
was the only person to get below the CSS and was the overall Medal Winner plus
the Winner of the Medal Finals. Maureen Skinner (Gourock) was
the best Scratch .
