May 25th 2003 - Some Photographs from the
Scottish in St Andrews
The Scottish Ladies Championship is over, with the winner
being Anne Laing (Vale of Leven) and the Runner Up Claire Hargan (Prestonfield).
However, despite many RLCGA members not playing in the event they still had a
good time last weekend and to prove it how about looking at some
photographs from the Centenary Dinner on the
Saturday evening with Past Champions Dorothea, Aileen and Heather plus one or
two more photos of some of the good golfers on the Practice Round
on the Sunday !
May 21st 2003 - In the 1st round of the knockout
stages of the Scottish Amateur Championships Addi Shamash knocked out
former Scottish and British champion Alison Davidson (Rose)
by one hole. Adi was one up with one to play and Alison could not hole a curly
10ft birdie putt on the last green and the hole was halved.
Adi ,was roughly level par for the round. However in the 2nd Round Adi
unfortunately lost to Martine Pow (Selkirk)
Jennifer Jenkins lost to former title holder Anne Laing in
the 1st Round
In the Clark Rosebowl Carol Whyte beat Fiona De Fries (St
Rule) in the 1st Round and then lost to D Popock (Oldmeldrum) Lynda
Brabender received a w/o from Amy Davis (Bothwell Castle) and then
lost to Charlie Taylor (Troon Ladies) in the afternoon

May 19th and 20th 2003 - Jennifer Jenkins (Ralston) has leading
Renfrewshire County 1st Round Score at St Andrews in the
Scottish Closed Amateur Championship with
a gross 79. Addi Shamash (Kirkcudbright and Bonnyton) has a
gross 78 in the 2nd Round Score (Par 76)
Both Addi (Gross 162) and Jennifer (Gross 165) have managed to make it to
the matchplay stages of the Championship. Unfortunately Donna Jackson
(Gross 166) missed out on the last qualifying place in a play off against Pam
Williamson the Scots and Irish Seniors Champion
Both Lynda Brabender (Gross 169 - Greenock) and
Carol Whyte (Gross 172 - Windyhill) have made it to the Clark
Rosebowl matchplay stages (The next 16 after the main 32 Championship
qualifiers)
May 17th SLGA Centenary Dinner -
Kathleen McNeil (RLCGA Honorary Life President) is given
an a standing ovation after her speech at the SLGA Centenary Dinner at the Old
Course Hotel in St. Andrews on Saturday evening. Past Scottish Champions
Dorothea (Sommerville) Hastings (1958) Heather Anderson (1969) and Aileen
Wilson (1974) were amongst the 179 guests that attended the dinner.
1st May 14th 2003 - Heather Anderson (Caldwell) is West of
Scotland Veteran Champion
Heather Anderson notched up yet another title in her extraordinarily long and
successful golfing career when she won the Scottish Veteran Ladies Golf
Association's West Division title at Renfrew today.

At Renfrew, Heather beat Ann Prentice (Bothwell Castle) by
3 and 2 in the final after winning the second and third to go two up and never
falling behind after that. She was three up at the turn.
The West Vets' Bronze Division championship was won by Helen
Crichton (Ranfurly Castle) who beat Margaret McKendrick (Old
Ranfurly) by 4 and 3 in the final.

May 12th 2003 - (County Foursomes over Greenock) Pearl Orr
(RLCGA Captain) and Donna Jackson were the star performers of the day. In
blustery and to say the least rather wet underfoot conditions they managed to
be the overall winners in both the Scratch and Handicap sections with a
brilliant 78 net 73
ATTENTION CADDIES REQUIRED:
Christeen Finlayson the Caddy Mistress for the County Jamboree at Brunston
Castle is looking for more volunteers to help with the caddying. Monday 16th
June is looking ok. However, we really do need some more Renfrewshire Ladies
for Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th June. Please give Christeen a call if you
can help out.

May 10th 2003 - (County Rosebowl). The
top 8 players with the lowest aggregate net scores in the April and
May Medal has now been done. Christeen Finlayson is sending out the
draw with telephone numbers of those who have qualified and you should receive
this shortly.

May 6th 2003 -. (May Medal): Maureen Skinner (Gourock)
wins the May Medal over Old Ranfurly with both the best Scratch (77) and Net
Score (72) of the day. In blustery and difficult conditions most of the field
struggled and the competition ended up with the SSS 71 going up to a CSS OF 74
(Reduction only)

May 5th 2003: WEST OF SCOTLAND CHAMPIONSHIP (STRATHAVEN
Success for Lesley Robertson (Ranfurly Castle)
British mid-amateur women's champion Anne Laing won with a 2 round total of
145 yesterday (Sunday).
Many Congratulations to Renfrewshire County Player Lesley Robertson from
Ranfurly Castle who won the Handicap Section
Handicap: 152 L Robertson (Ranfurly Castle) (5) 73 79.
