Cup at the County Golf Meeting at Cardross
|
The County Golf Open Meeting took place
today at Cardross Golf Club in
torrential rain and what you might say not easy conditions.
Despite the weather and even an 8 on her card 13 year old
Renfrewshire County Member Lauren Mackin (Ranfurly
Castle) had a gross 85 net 70 to win the handicap
prize of the day. Lauren who started the season with a handicap of 18
has now reduced her handicap to 13. The SSS 75 CSS 76 meant that
Lauren was 6 under on the day. Claire Hargan (Mortonhall
-- Midlothian) had a gross 76 to win the Scratch Award.

5th August 2005: England win the Girls Home
Internationals
|
England won the Girls Home International
Series at Worplesdon today when they trounced
Ireland 9 - 0. They were the
only team to win two matches.
Megan & Roseanne Niven
lost to Lydia Hall & Becky Harries
4 & 3 in the morning foursomes and
Wales and Scotland
went on to halve
their match 4.5 - 4.5, and
shared second spot with 1.5 matches each. However,
Wales took the runner-up position due to their superior total of games
won.
Ireland took the wooden spoon.

 |
4th August 2005: Girls Home internationals -
Scotland lose to England
|
Scotland 1 England 2 after the
mornings foursomes.
Megan again teamed with Roseanne Niven
and were Scotland's only winners beating Henni
Brockway and Florentyna Parker by 3 and 1.
The singles were shared 3-3 with Sally Watson (Elie & Earlsferry),
Roseanne Niven and Krystle Caithness (St Regulus) winning their ties for
Scotland. Kelsey MacDonald (Nairn Dunbar), Rebecca Watson (Elie &
Earlsferry) and Megan
lost their ties
Result: Scotland 4 England 5
Ireland, beaten by the Scots
yesterday, surprisingly won 5-4 against
Wales who had trounced England, the favourites and defending
champions, 8-1.
That means that all four teams have identical records - one win, one
defeat - going into the final day's play in which Scotland will play
Wales and England meet Ireland.
If the Scots can finish with a win, they a draw
between England and Ireland would make them champions for the first time
since 1998.
