Clare -
Marie Carlton was runner up in the Scottish Strokeplay
Championships played over West Kilbride.
To read all about it go to the
Junior News Section . Well done Clare- Marie and also
well done to Megan Briggs
(Kilmacolm) who was in
the top 12
Eilidh Briggs
(Kilmacolm) was the youngest in
the field. There were no other
under 12s so she was moved to the under
14 category and won the prize for the best
net aggregate over the three rounds.
There are not many entries for the
August Medal over Gourock
and Maureen Skinner who is in charge
of the day is disappointed in the response and says surely they
must remember the great day we had last time the medal was played
here .The course is in excellent
condition at the moment and should be even better by 9 August since that
is only a few days after the Club Championship. She
will be happy to take entries by
email to save the hassle of posting

secure a 1 hole win for
Carol who

3rd July 2005: Message from Captain Aileen
|
What a great Team effort at
Lanark Golf Club by
Renfrewshire players,
caddies and supporters!
Renfrewshire lost 4-5 to
Lanarkshire, and won 6 1/2 -2 1/2
against Ayrshire and won 7-2 against
Dumbartonshire and Argyll.
We were so close to winning, but came second to Lanarkshire just
a little more luck and half a point more when we played them on Monday
and we would have been going to the Scottish Finals at Ranfurly
Castle on Friday 16th -Sunday 18th September 2005.
Our Team gave everything they could, whether playing or supporting (only
6 of 8 team members play at one time). Every player helped put points on
the board and remained positive and enthusiastic throughout.
I just wish more members and supporters had been there to see our
team and individual players from their own Clubs. Our younger members
had some outstanding results with Megan,
Clare-Marie and Kate gaining lots of points. If
Ruth Rankin of Lanarkshire had not put
a driver shot off the fairway to 12 inches from the hole at the 15th on
Monday morning we might have gained that extra half point. Then on
Wednesday afternoon we had new girl Gillian
Kyle winning against Internationalist Kylie Walker. I just
wish some East Renfrewshire members had been there to see it. (It
was reminiscent of Gillian McGinlay
defeating Clare Hargan a few years ago.
Gillian McGinlay had some good play and her
description of others efforts as 'awesome' became the saying of
the competition!
Julie Wilson also did her bit ,
playing well on her debut.
Donna Jackson our 10 times champion was
her usual reliable self with a high standard of play and
Jenny Jenkins did well not holding back
on hitting the ball as far as possible and having some excellent wins.
I would life to thank our caddies and supporters for their help and
encouragement. It DOES make a difference. It was good to have
our coach Karyn Burns there on
Tuesday supporting.
Next year's Jamboree is at East
Renfrewshire GC on Monday 26th June - Wednesday 28th June
2006.
Good golf to you all for the rest of the season.
Aileen |
