19th September 2005 (Monday): The County Rosebowl Final is played at Haggs Castle in the wind and rain

The Final of the County Rosebowl was played today at Haggs Castle Golf Course in conditions that can only can be described as awful !! Carol Fell (Ranfurly Castle) and Freda Smith (Cowglen) struggled (to say the least) with some good play and some bad play. Captain Aileen Wilson referred the match and Fiona Roger was the sole spectator.  Carol and Freda, somewhere about the 9th hole decided that it was about time that they should retire to the clubhouse.

Carol Fell and Freda Smith (Click to enlarge)

However, they had to struggled on and the match ended with Carol winning on the 18th!!. Aileen very kindly treated them to a lovely lunch and a nice glass of red wine -- and they both thank her again for her very much appreciated  hospitality.
The picture on the right was taken by Aileen and if you click on it to enlarge and look at the picture on the wall on the RHS of Freda you can see a photo of Aileen when she won the Scottish Championship
