19th September 2005 (Monday): The County Rosebowl
Final is played at Haggs Castle in the wind and rain
|
|
The Final of the
County Rosebowl was played today at
Haggs Castle Golf Course in conditions that can only can be
described as awful !! Carol Fell (Ranfurly
Castle) and Freda Smith (Cowglen)
struggled (to say the least) with some good play and some bad play.
Captain Aileen Wilson referred the
match and Fiona Roger was the sole
spectator. Carol and Freda,
somewhere about the 9th hole decided that it was about time that they
should retire to the clubhouse. |
 |
|
However, they had to struggled on and
the match ended with Carol winning
on the 18th!!. Aileen very
kindly treated them to a lovely lunch and a nice glass of red wine --
and they both thank her again for her very much appreciated
hospitality.
The picture on the right was taken by Aileen and if you click on it
to enlarge and look at the picture on the wall on the RHS of
Freda you can see a photo of Aileen when she won the Scottish
Championship

13th September 2005: Disappointing turn out at the

The Autumn Meeting at
Williamwood today was very
disappointing with only 12 of the original 60 entrants going
out in the windy and as it turned out not as wet a day as we all

badly in the tricky conditions. Linda McDougall
(Greenock) won the scratch award with a Gross 78 and
Carol Fell (Ranfurly Castle) was the

The pin placement at the 1st hole was in an exceedingly difficult
position with 10 players out of the 12 taking a double bogey or
more !!
