In 2005, our Centenary year
In the Daily Mail Foursomes we had to appear
To represent Whitecraigs, an honour
I'd say
I hoped I'd play well - and so did Kay.
|
 |
Our first round was at East
Ren
And on that day, it teemed with rain,
But on the eighteenth we won the day.
I played well - and so did Kay
|
 |
Then, with luck, we had a bye
And into the third round we did fly.
Then Kilmacolm, they couldn't play
So luck was with me — and with Kay.
|
 |
Our next round was at Old
Ranfurly,
A course that makes your hair turn curly!
With three down and five to play
I won on the last - and so did Kay.
|
 |
At last at home we had a game,
Against Loudoun Gowf we sought fame.
An easy victory went our way.
Again I played well - and so did Kay.
|
 |
The next at Torrance House
we went
At the twentieth hole we were totally spent.
But pleased with ourselves, I have to say.
I played exceptionally well - and so did Kay.
|
 |
Our seventh match against
Uphall
And then we really had a ball
Winning 7 and 5, we made hay.
I putted well - and so did Kay.
|
 |
And so to Bristol
off we flew
With Harry and Sandy, our confidence grew,
Backed by our friends, Sandra and Gay
I prayed I'd play well - and so did Kay
|
 |
On Sunday we played in a practice round,
And Harry's clubbing proved very sound.
We played with ladies from Dundee's Abertay.
I played well - and so did Kay.
|
 |
Our first round was against Cowdry Park
Who played off 1 and 6, not such a lark.
Being 3 down, inspiration we sought,
I played badly — but Kay did not.
|
 |
Our supporters, too, weren't doing well,
Sandra tripped over her feet and Gay as well fell.
Sandy had flu and cared not a jot,
I played badly - but Kay did not.
Then two rounds of foursomes to win some champagne,
Not a drop passed our lips, I'm sad to proclaim,
But from 1800 entrants I think we did well,
I'll still play with you Kay - I'll still play with you El.
|
 |
To all our supporters and the Whitecraigs Club
Thanks to you all - but here is the rub.
We've won the foursomes again, on that we're not coy,
We'll win the Cup next year - at Dalmahoy! |
