5th October 2005:Friendly Match against Ayrshire
|
 |
The Renfrewshire Girls' "B"
team had a close match on Sunday 3rd October against the
Ayrshire Girls "B" team at
Cathcart Castle Golf Club.
None of the players had played the course before and all found the hills
tiring and were amazed at the number of burns! On both sides there were
several girls who had not played a match before so the afternoon was a
very good learning experience for many. Renfrewshire's handicaps ranged
from 24 to 36 and Ayrshire's from 16 to 33, so getting full stokes
helped keep the match a close one!
There were some close matches but Ayrshire won overall 41/2 to 31/2.
Results (Renfrewshire names first)
Lesley Cosh lost to Linzi Allan 3 and 2
Nicky Wilson lost to Gillian Arnott 2 holes
Gaynor Duthie beat Jenny Linklater 4 and 3

1st September 2005: Report
from Gillian Kyle on the Junior Championship
|
The Renfrewshire Girls'
Championship was played at East
Renfrewshire Golf Club on Sunday 28th August in
horrendous conditions.
In the morning, Megan Briggs and
Catherine Conejo-Watt played and scored
amazing well considering the gale force winds with Megan's experience
showing through winning 5 and 4.
Lauren Mackin and
Eilidh Briggs coped brilliantly as
well- hardly ever even looking for a ball.
Eilidh chose the wrong club a couple of times giving
Lauren the chance to take the tie 4 and
3.
After a short rest, we ventured out again. The rain began but at least
the girls had caddies in the afternoon (- with Eilidh caddying for her
sister and Catherine for her school-chum)
It was a very close match with both girls finding the conditions very
difficult indeed, especially the putting. Megan won on the 16th green.
The standard of all the girls' golf is very encouraging for the
future.

The Junior Convenors met in March
and this was an excellent evening discussing all our Junior experiences
and hopes for our Sections. Child Protection is a massive area to get
organised this year but as a County we seem to be getting on top of it
and only 3 days ago our own policy was accepted by the SGU. Now
we can officially appoint a Child Protection Officer then get all the
disclosures done.
The Convenors have decided to
meet at the end of the season as well this year to assess our efforts!
This meeting will take place on Wednesday 2nd
November at 7.30pm, probably at Haggs Castle Golf Club.
